A little bit about the project:
ADOPTA is a pioneering project conceived as a proof of concept that continues the research developed within the framework of the PIVOS project (Reference PID2019 – 104289RB, 2020 – 2023), funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities within the national R&D&I program.
Its purpose is to move towards a more efficient, precise and sustainable management of phytosanitary treatments in vineyards and olive groves, two emblematic crops of the Mediterranean environment.
Main objective
Optimize the application of plant protection products using variable application techniques, adjusting the dose according to the density and actual volume of vegetation present in each area of the plot. With this, ADOPTA aims to improve the effectiveness of treatments, minimize the use of inputs, and reduce environmental impact.
-
A data-driven and remote sensing approach:
The project relies on the precise characterization of the vegetation, obtained from:
- Images captured by drones (high resolution, operational flexibility).
- Satellite images (continuous and scalable coverage).
Through advanced analysis and processing techniques, ADOPTA generates reliable maps of variability within the plot, allowing the application dose to be adapted to the actual conditions of each area.
Its purpose is to move towards a more efficient, precise and sustainable management of phytosanitary treatments in vineyards and olive groves, two emblematic crops of the Mediterranean environment.
-
Innovative methodology:
ADOPTA integrates multiple technologies and knowledge to develop an operational solution:
Calculation of parameters such as leaf density, canopy volume, vegetation index or spatial distribution of the crop.
II.Generation of variable dose maps
Translation of vegetative information into application prescriptions based on agronomic criteria and product deposition models.
III. Field application using compatible equipment
Implementation of variable application in atomizers and sprayers that allow adjusting the dose in real time or from pre-loaded maps.
IV. Evaluación de eficacia y sostenibilidad
Comparison with conventional applications to verify:
- Product savings.
- Improvements in treatment uniformity.
- Reduction of drift and losses.
- Associated environmental and agronomic impacts.
-
Contribution to the agricultural sector:
With ADOPTA, agriculture is moving towards a more digital, precise, and environmentally friendly model. Its benefits include:
- More rational and efficient use of plant protection products.
- Reduction of environmental impact and associated risks.
- Increased sustainability in vineyards and olive groves.
- Knowledge transfer for future developments in precision agriculture.
A step forward towards the future of the smart app
ADOPTA represents a strategic milestone in the transition to smart pesticide application systems, where the dosage is adapted to the actual needs of the crop. Its approach combines technological innovation, sustainability, and scientific rigor to build a more efficient and responsible agriculture.
